Honda stunned the automotive world in 1990 with the debut of the NSX. instantly relegating the Ferrari 348 and Porsche 911 to the status of dinosaur sports cars. Combining phenomenal (Artyon Senna-developed) handling, an all-aluminium body, a screaming DOHC 24-valve V6 engine, and Accord-like ease of use and reliability, it was the most advanced sports car of its time. More than 10 years down the road, the NSX is still a credible competitor to modern day super sports cars, and this face-lifted version sports a revised 3.2-litre V6 engine, 280-ps, 6-speed manual transmission, 17-inch forged BBS alloy wheels and fixed-position projector headlights. This Type-R version features carbon-fibre front hood, rear wing, thinner glass, lighter Recaro seats, and a stiffer LSD. Deleted are many items to save weight: air-conditioning, undercoating, many electrics, spare wheel, and stereo system. In all, the Type-R version is 265 lbs lighter.
